( which is not a dismissive term in its tone, but descriptive; he doesn't know her name, offhand. ) I don't imagine anyone finds my presence all that comforting, but for those whose old fears might stop them pursuing something with the two of you, a sympathetic outsider might have some success.
And some of them are sheltered children thrust into the midst of a war. It's not unfamiliar to me. I was taught to navigate politics, I could teach it to another.

Rather my thought. Those whose reluctance might stem more from what they imagine of her allegiances than a lack of desire to learn - they might benefit from an alternative. Don't mistake me, I haven't adopted the quarrel; I merely see it's effects.
( he does find it slightly amusing to imagine himself ever the less intimidating option. a bit of that might linger, in his voice. )
And what with that war and all, my experience might be useful.
